The latest update of the IHS Outsourced Manufacturing Database is available.

Following the release of results from numerous companies across the industry as well as monthly sales numbers for February 2014 from the major companies in Taiwan, IHS has adjusted its forecast.

The year 2013 ended with industry revenues down an estimated 1.5% to US$388 billion. This marks the first annual revenue decline since 2009 by our estimate. The biggest contributor to the annual decline was the drop in notebook PC shipments from the major suppliers primarily based in Taiwan. 2013 proved a challenging year for many of these companies as only two, Compal and Inventec, were able to increase unit shipments in 2013. Roughly half of the large outsourced manufacturing and design providers tracked by IHS posted lower revenues in 2013 relative to 2012. There were varying factors as many enterprise- and industrial-focused providers also found revenue growth challenging in 2013.
