Compal reported Q4 2013 results that were relatively in-line with expectations. Overall the company posted 5% year-on-year revenue growth in local currency, which was an improvement over the past several quarters when growth has lagged. Notebook PC units surged more than 15% compared to the year ago period and nearly 40% sequentially as several programs ramped during the quarter. Looking ahead the company still holds to its view that 2014 will be a year of modest growth in terms of notebook PC units compared to the nearly 40 million units shipped in 2013. In addition, overall revenue growth should receive a bit of a boost from new relationships with handset vendors now that Compal Communications is fully absorbed back into the parent company.
