Apple strikes long awaited iPhone deal with China Mobile

China Mobile has signed a deal with Apple to bring sell iPhones on its network. China Mobile is the largest mobile operator in the world with over 760 million subscribers. Of these 180m are 3G subscribers and the operator launched its 4G network last week. Apple will produce iPhones compatible with China Mobile’s unique 3G network which is based on TD-SCDMA technology.

China Mobile will begin selling the iPhone 5S and 5C on the 17th of January, 2014. This is two weeks of Chinese New Year which is busiest retail season for Chinese businesses.
