On December 9th Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 410 chipset aimed at high volume mobile devices. The new chipset is part of Qualcomm’s 400 product segment which is aimed at mid-range and high volume smartphones. The 410 is targeted at smartphones with a price point less than $150. Equipped with world-mode LTE and backward compatible to 2G and 3G operation, the 410 is a solution aimed squarely at the rapidly growing Chinese LTE market.
The 410 chipset also ushers 64 bit processing capabilities into the mid-range smartphone segment. Other features of the 410 include an Adreno 306 GPU, 1080p video playback, 13 megapixel camera support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM, NFC functionality, and support for dual and triple SIM. The Snapdragon 410 carries an impressive spec sheet into the high volume smartphone segment, but will it be enough to keep the competition at bay and drive future growth for Qualcomm?
