IHS has released a comprehensive update of its Mobile M&A and Funding datasets, comprising a quarterly view of media and technology transactions with a focus on deals that will likely impact mobile consumer and enterprise devices and services.
This update brings the total number of deals covered to 6,449, a 28 per cent increase since the last update. Of these 1,791 represent mergers or acquisitions and 4,585 are venture funding rounds.
Health and Wellness, a brand new investment category, has been introduced as part of this update. This follows a significant increase in early-stage funding activity in this space identified by IHS' research. The advent of technologies such as wearable devices, health tracking apps, and cloud-based platforms targeted at this market, has spurred innovation as well as investors' willingness to claim part of this emerging market.
The venture funding data includes a high-level quarterly and annual overview of transaction trends (number of deals, aggregate transaction values, year-on-year and quarterly growth rates). The M&A data includes a summary of historical transaction numbers on a quarterly and annual basis.
These datasets can also be filtered by date, by transaction amount (when disclosed), and by the following industry categories:
- Software/Operating System
- TV & Video
- User Generated Content/Social Network
