The second quarter of 2013 was largely one of growth for Power Amplifier (PA) suppliers. WLAN PA revenues grew in the quarter overall with some suppliers faring better than others. Mobile handsets, tablets, enterprise WLAN equipment and broadband consumer premise equipment (CPE) helped to propel revenues of Wi-Fi PAs and transmit modules. At some suppliers product mix is shifting toward Wi-Fi and this part of their revenue engine is becoming very material.
Taking advantage of this trend, ANADIGICS led the pack in terms of growth as the company’s Wi-Fi PAs and transmit modules gained traction in handsets, tablets, and infrastructure. The company’s Wi-Fi related revenue increased over 138% on a sequential basis. Is this growth in the second quarter indicative of a prolonged market trend, or is this just a flash in the pan?
