Over the next few years IHS forecasts spending on PC game downloads to experience strong growth. Consumer acceptance, expanded access to download channels across geographies, and growing retail competition will drive more consumers online to purchase PC games. Incoming disruptions for this PC-based opportunity include streaming services, freemium game services and even the mooted Steam Box, which may splinter users away from the PC. While North America has already reached a point of maturation across this segment, IHS expects substantial non-digital PC game markets in Europe - Germany and Russia, for example, to drive more substantial growth from a smaller base.
