In the Electronics Equipment & Semiconductor Forecast Market Tracker, which is an executive summary supplement to the AMFT, IHS Markit forecasts the electronic equipment and semiconductor component device markets for every calendar quarter. Revenue forecasts cover the major equipment markets and component families, and present both a two-year quarterly revenue forecast and a five-year annual revenue forecast.
The revenue forecasts are generated by a combination of “bottom-up” and “top-down” methodologies. Electronic end-equipment is forecast through an analysis of the major end-application markets along with the general economic outlook. This forecast then drives a bottom-up semiconductor component analysis that also takes into account changes in average selling prices (ASPs), capacity, technology, and inventories. Electronic equipment and semiconductor forecasts are then wedded together by allocating component input revenues to end-market output revenues, in order to ensure tracking and consistency with forecast assumptions.
