The Japanese retail video sector declined again in 2011 after reporting positive growth in 2010 for the first time in five years. Total retail video shipments and revenues fell 9.8 per cent and 2.0 per cent respectively in 2011 after Blu-ray Disc growth failed to compensate for a decline in DVD sales.
