The economic downturn of 2008/9 triggered cutbacks in programme investment across Europe, with ad-supported free-to-air broadcasters particularly affected. Drawing on company-level data gathered for the forthcoming TV programme Intelligence service, the report tracks programme spend by the leading free-to-air and pay TV broadcasters in the five largest European markets.
