The total number of giant screens worldwide increased 18.5 per cent year-on-year in 2011, as the net balance of giant screens (GS) rose by 115, which includes a number of existing sites that were upgraded to digital during the year off set against just ten screens that closed.Of the total giant screen footprint, almost 80 per cent also have 3D capability-compared to 72per cent in 2010 and just 51 per cent in 2008.There was growth across the majority of world regions with the exception of Latin America and Africa/Middle East, which both finished flat year-on-year. Asia Pacific registered the largest annual percentage gain in net new giant screens.
