Set-top box deals



Luxembourg cable operator Imagin will deploy TechniSat's Digit HD4, DVB-C set-top box (STB). The HD STB, embedded with Conax conditional access (CA), is both MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 compliant, and digital video recorder (DVR) equipped.



Brazilian TV network and broadcaster Globo has chosen Technicolor as a set-top box (STB) supplier for its HD, DVB-S2 service to rural areas.  While few details of the box have been disclosed, the HD STB will support Nagra CA, and is likely to support MPEG-4 compression.


Conditional access Deals



Verimatrix has secured three deals for its VCAS CA system. Australian operator FetchTV has selected VCAS CA for its IPTV service, which is delivered over its partner ISPs' telco networks; In Massachusetts, local IPTV operator JoozoorTV has deployed VCAS to secure its Arabic-language bouquet; Washington DC-based IPTV operator OnKast will the VCAS platform to secure its own package of ethnic and international channels.


Middleware Deals



Orca has secured a deal with Australian IPTV service FetchTV. FetchTV - the brand adopted for the wholesale delivery of IPTV services to pan-Australia ISPs and telcos - will run on Orca's RiGHTV platform middleware.


Network infrastructure Deals



Compression specialist Envivio will ship its 4Caster encoder/transcoder to Singaporean MSO and mobile operator StarHub. Once integrated within the StarHub headend, the 4Caster transcoding platform will be used to deliver 25 cable TV channels to 3G mobile handsets.


-Grass Valley

Grass Valley has secured three compression and multiplexing deals. Alongside Harmonic, Grass Valley will supply Sky Brazil with 140 MPEG-2/MPEG-4 SD encoders, 10 HD receiver-decoders (IRDs), and its XMS network management system (NMS). In Vietnam, the launch of the Vietnam Satellite Television DTH platform - a Canal+ Group and Vietnam National Television joint venture - will be supported by Grass Valley SD, MPEG-2 encoders and XMS NMS. In Singapore, StarHub has chosen Grass Valley MPEG-4 encoders to transition its DTT offer from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4; the transition is expected to complete by end Q2 2010.



Brazilian DTH operator Sky Brazil has deployed Harmonic's Electra 8000 encoders to support further HD carriage. The MPEG-4 HD encoders will be integrated within Sky's headend, which is currently running Harmonic's NMX NMS and ProStream statistical multiplexers.
