Set-top Box Deals

Caribbean IPTV operator Telefonia Bonairiano (Telbo) will deploy Amino's A140 HD set-top box to customers as it transitions services to HD.

Echostar will provide Chilean satellite operator Telefonica with their HDS-600 high-definition set-top boxes. The boxes feature dual satellite tuners, and will allow consumers to upgrade to DVR services via an external hard disk drive.

California-based set-top box manufacturer Entone will supply Moldovan operator Moldtelecom with its Amulet set-top box, a hybrid HD IPTV solution. The move represents Moldova's first high-definition TV service, and will additionally provide consumers with DVR and over-the-top (OTT) functionality.

UK set-top box manufacturer Pace have signed a new deal with existing client Brazilian cable operator Net Servicos. The deal will see Pace continue to provide Net Servicos with standard SD boxes, but will also include the rollout of standard HD and HD DVR boxes to consumers.

Conditional Access Deals

Mostelecom, a provider of digital TV services in Moscow, have signed a deal to utilise Conax's content security services. The contract will see Conax provide Mostelecom with CI+ and chipset pairing technology.

Danish pay-TV operator Stofa have chosen Irdeto's cardless cloaked conditional access (CA) solution for its Zaptor pay-TV offering. Stofa will use the technology specifically to protect their broadcast and VoD services.

Verimatrix will provide its Video Content Authority System (VCAS) to United Arab Emirates IPTV operator Etisalat. The deployment will protect and deliver content broadcasted by Etisalat and will support multi-format delivery.

SFR, the French telecommunications operator, has selected Viaccess's conditional access solutions to protect its new TV offering. The new service from SFR, which launched in February 2011, offers high-definition content over satellite.

Middleware Deals

Faroese Telecom, an IPTV operator based in the Faroe Islands, will deploy Dreampark's DreamGallery IPTV middleware to add more interactivity and on-demand features to their existing TV services.

In similar news, Egyptian Advanced Multimedia Systems (EAMS) have chosen to utilise DreamGallery middleware for their IPTV set-top boxes.

Minerva Networks
Moldovan Internet Service Provider (ISP) StarNet are launching a new television service, and have selected Minerva Networks broadband TV platform for content management. In addition to network DVR (nDVR) and catch-up TV, the Minerva platform also integrates live and on-demand internet video, allowing access to OTT content.

Sichuan Cable (SCTV), the Chinese cable operator, will deploy NDS MediaHighway set-top box operating system across its customer base. The new software will allow SCTV customers access to interactive TV services, whilst enabling SCTV to fully customise their EPG.
