Set-top Box Deals

SA Cisco
Scientific Atlanta Cisco has been chosen by Indian MSO Gujarat Telelink to provide digital cable set-top boxes across the states of Gujarat, West Bengal, Maharashtra and Jharkhand. The arrangement will see Gujarat Telelink deploy over 300,000 SA Cisco boxes over the next year, as digitisation across India continues.

Conditional Access Deals

Conax
Russian satellite operator Telekarta have entered into a contract with Conax for content protection across their DTH platform. The move represents Conax's second conditional access deployment amongst Russian DTH operators, following on from their deal with Rikor TV.

Nagra
Nagra will power "Digital+ a la carta", the new over-the-top VoD service available to subscribers to Spanish Pay-TV operator Digital+. Nagra will provide content protection allowing consumers to view content through a range of devices, including set-top boxes, PCs, phones and tablets.

NDS
DOXTV, a Chinese TV service provider, will partner with NDS to launch a range of new services to its subscribers in the Hainan province. In addition to conditional access solutions, NDS will provide software and technology enabling HD Push VoD and DVR functionality, whilst the two companies have together produced a proprietary EPG.

Verimatrix
Ovivo, the digtal TV platform from Russian service operator PMT, will deploy content security from Verimatrix. The deal will see Vermatrix's Video Content Authority System used to protect over-the-top video viewing and downloading across the platform.

Middleware Deals

Minerva Networks
Minerva Networks will provide its software to enable Moldtelecom, a Moldovan telecom operator, to offer advanced television services. Through Minerva's solutions, Moldtelecom's subscribers will have access to networked DVR and Catch-up services, in addition to access to the Minerva Widget Engine.

Network Deals
 
Harmonic Inc
The Cologne Broadcasting Center, part of RTL Germany, will use Harmonic's Omneon Spectrum HD media sever for its new broadcast center. The server will support ingest and playout for the RTL HD and VOX HD channels.

Motorola
Home Box Office (HBO) Latin America will utilise technology from Motorola Mobility as it upgrades its satellite network to MPEG-4 video encoding and DVBS-2 modulation. Motorola Mobility will supply both encoders to process and convert HD content to MPEG-4 for distribution, and receivers to process and transcode the content.
